In April 2009 the two facilities, one on Cuxhavener Strasse (analysis of food and consumer goods) and the other on Stresemann Strasse (analysis of pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs, formerly Dr. Kaiser & Dr. Woldmann) both moved to their new premises on Goldtschmidt Strasse in Hamburg-Harburg. The new laboratory building offers 3,300 m² of floor space.

Thanks to good planning and the full support of employees, the moves went smoothly; even in the transition period customers still received their analysis results to the usual high standards.

Manfred Giesecke, managing director of GBA, is very satisfied with the new arrangements: “Centralization has many advantages. On the one hand we can now further enhance the range, quality and efficiency of our services and be even better at meeting our clients’ need for rapid, customized services. And on the other hand the move reflects our expansion strategy to build more business for the food and pharmaceutical analysis sectors. We aim to acquire new authorizations, and also to open up new facilities in other parts of Germany. We are vigorously pursuing these plans.”

GBA is one of the leading laboratory groups, employing some 200 people at 8 different locations in Germany; for more than 30 years the Company has been working in the fields of analytical chemistry and microbiology as they relate to the environment, foodstuffs, consumer products and pharmaceuticals.

GBA has achieved more rapid growth over the last 10 years by taking over other laboratories.
