Since the 1997 takeover of Nordlabor’s environmental department, GBA has used Pinneberg as the base for its activities in this sector of the analysis industry when serving customers in the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein region and clients from abroad. The infrastructure, staff numbers and laboratory space have been steadily expanded ever since. Following the 2004 completion of the first major step – a new laboratory building - 2008 saw the second phase of construction, when another storey was added to the premises. The new laboratory facilities were ready in November 2008 and went into operation the same month. The laboratory’s useful floor area has now been extended to 1,700 m² and it is fitted with highly automated equipment for classic environmental analysis, ensuring that above-average quality can be delivered profitably, despite the fall in prices.
Services available from this laboratory site cover the entire spectrum of modern environmental analysis, including testing the biota for residues and specialized analysis for, e.g., dioxins, brominated flame retardants, plasticizers, active pharmaceutical ingredients, explosives and their derivatives etc. Specialty fields include:
- Testing sediment and dredgings
- Analysis of remnants from waste incinerators
- Testing water in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive
- Analysis in connection with waste disposal management at large construction sites
Currently 65 people work at the Pinneberg laboratory. |
